Corporate Sustainability

The HSBC Group worldwide is known for its Corporate Sustainability (CS) programme. Internally we manage our carbon footprint, and we were one of the first banks to commit to going carbon neutral. Externally, we manage social and environmental risks associated with our lending and investments. We identify business opportunities that have an environmental and social benefit and we seek to embed social and environmental issues into all of our business activities.

CS is at the heart of HSBC Bank (Vietnam) Ltd. (HSBC Vietnam). Every year, CS Vietnam organises and sponsors many innovative community-oriented initiatives related to education, the environment and social community, and encourages bank staff to become actively involved. In 2010, 2,667 turns of volunteers contributed a total of 21,077 volunteer hours to projects that ultimately benefited 1,244,102 people, including disadvantaged children, students, and young women nationwide.
