Published 15 May 2013	Economics Data Reaction - SBV delivers another 100bp cut Thanks to slowing inflation, the central bank delivered another 100 bp cut to main policy rates. But the issue with sluggish credit growth in Vietnam is not supply but demand driven. To materially raise sluggish credit demand, the central bank will need to instill confidence and resolve the bad debt issue. Unless it unveils concrete plans to reform the banking and state-owned sectors, Vietnam will continue to rely on exports to drive up aggregate demand and the recovery process will be a gradual one. We expect the OMO rate to stay steady after this cut.

The PMI was boosted by faster growth of new orders and employment and a further expansion of production volumes.
